The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it will no longer register candidates who do not have the National Identity Number (NIN) for the upcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

“Buhari on Wednesday approved the reduction in the cost of forms for the JAMB, NECO and the Basic Education Certificate Examination fees.

With effect from January 2020/2021 , the cost of UTME Form will drop from N5,000 to N3,500 while that of NECO will drop from N11,350, to N9,850.”

Similarly, fees for the Basic Education Certificate handled by NECO has been reduced from N5,500 to N4,000.

This was made known at the weekly Federal Executive Council held Wednesday, where the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, announced that “the President has directed the ministry to look into the reduction following the significant improvement in revenues being remitted to the treasury by the education agencies.”

Any update will effect the change immediately.

– The CBT centers or JAMB State Office, supplies, at no extra cost, the prescribed reading text and the CD containing:


a) e-brochure showing guidelines on admission detailing the list of tertiary institutions and available programmes of study.

b) Syllabus (e-syllabus) for the examination.

c) Step by step guide on completion of the application form.

d) A video message from the Registrar of JAMB and a demo on how to use eight (8) keys for the UTME examination without mouse. (For candidates with little familiarity with Computers).

vii). Each Candidate is to complete the online application form by supplying the required details such as name, e-mail address, L.G.A., academic qualification, etc.

viii) . At the CBT centers, the Candidate’s ten fingers biometric and image will be captured and uploaded.

ix) . O/L and/or A/L grades are to be provided by candidates. Candidates who are awaiting results should supply the result online as soon as the results are available on JAMB’s portal.

x) . Each Candidate is to collect his e-slip at the end of registration as evidence of registration.


There will be no offline registration, as all the accredited CBT centers have been empowered for real life online registration.


Note: No candidate should register at any centers other than the accredited CBT centers and JAMB State office. Any candidate who is registered outside approved centres will be identified and disqualified.

1️⃣. PROFILE REGISTRATION: 

One Cell (mobile) number can be used by one candidate The Cell phone number used for the text message is automatically tied to the Candidate’s name and will be used in all communications related to his/her 2021 Application/Examination

Candidate sends his/her name [Surname, First-Name, Middle-Name (if any)] by text (SMS) to this should be maximum of 38 characters + 2 spaces between names = 40 characters in all to 55019 e.g Tinubu Adamu Odumegwu (Surname and ļ¬rst name are mandatory)


A Proļ¬le Code of 10 characters is received by the candidate on the same telephone number


2️⃣. SELF HELP IN CASE OF MISTAKE/LOSS OF PROFILE CODE:


To correct a mistake in candidate’s name, send the [CORRECT Surname First-Name Middle-Name] to 55019 as a text message from the same mobile number

To retrieve a lost Proļ¬le Code, send [RESEND] to 55019 as text message from the same mobile number

How Much Is Jamb Registration

The registration fee for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination or Direct Entry is #3,500. However, some banks and centres still charge extra.


Novel For Jamb 2021

The Novel to be used for Jamb 2020 is Sweet Sixteen. Candidates are also, as usual, to pay Five Hundred Naira (₦500) to obtain the reading text.


Jamb Registration Centres
